Strengths

Gives each visitor a SHA-256 signature of the IP address, user agent, project token and a daily salt that rotates at midnight, instead of a cookie, according to the data policy.
The script sends nothing when the browser signals Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, and it picks up page changes in single-page apps through the History API.
Keeps the city, region and country with a GeoNames ID instead of coordinates, and discards the IP address after the location lookup, the vendor states.
Traffic above the plan is not billed, and tracking pauses only at three times the limit or after two months in a row over it.
A read-only public dashboard can be switched on for any project, and the Project API returns analytics and realtime counts and manages members and settings.

Watch-outs

Revenue attribution works only in persist mode, which sets a visitor cookie for a year, so the vendor says EU visitors have to consent first.
Identifying users with visitors.identify also sets cookies and can send names and email addresses, which the vendor says requires consent from EU visitors.
The installation guides cover plain HTML and JavaScript frameworks but not WordPress, and the documentation offers no plugin or way to serve the script from your own domain.
The API has no SDKs and allows 120 read requests and 10 write requests a minute per key.
A bounce is counted as a single-page visit shorter than 15 seconds, so the bounce rate is not directly comparable with tools that define it differently.

Who it suits

Visitors is a hosted service that launched in December 2025 and is run by Visitors Now, LLC, a Delaware company founded in Australia. Its analytics data is processed and stored on Hetzner servers in Germany. There is a single plan with every feature, unlimited projects and unlimited members per project, and the price follows the monthly number of events, which are mostly pageviews and are shared across all projects.

Alongside traffic reports, it offers a live globe of current visitors, a profile and journey for each visitor, funnels, and page performance metrics measured in visitors’ browsers, with an Experience Score.

Revenue attribution from Stripe, Dodo Payments or RevenueCat needs persist mode, which sets a cookie, and the vendor says EU visitors must consent to it. For the default setup without cookies, see what “cookieless” means here.

Setup

Sign up with email, GitHub or Google and create a project, which starts the 14-day trial. Then add the script tag with your project token in a data-token attribute to the head of every page. Single-page apps need no extra code, and the documentation has guides for Next.js, React, Vue.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, Astro and Angular.

Subdomains are tracked by adding allowed hostnames, including wildcards, in the project’s security settings. Persist mode is switched on with a data-persist attribute. Stripe is connected under Settings, Integrations, with a restricted API key, and Visitors then creates the Stripe webhook endpoint itself.

Questions and answers

Does Visitors use cookies?

No, not by default. According to the data policy, the script counts visitors with a daily signature instead. Persist mode and the identify function set cookies, and the vendor says EU visitors must consent before you use them. For the default setup, the vendor says no banner is needed; whether that holds for your site depends on the rules that apply to you.

What happens if I go over the Visitors event limit?

Overages are not billed. Visitors notifies you at certain thresholds, and tracking pauses until you upgrade if you reach three times your plan or stay over the limit for two months in a row, according to the FAQ.

Is there a free Visitors plan?

No. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial with full access and no credit card. After that, a paid plan is needed, and the terms say payments are final and not refunded, including unused time.

Where does Visitors store data?

In the EU. The data policy names Hetzner as the host of the databases in Germany. Cloudflare delivers the script, website and dashboard, but the vendor says raw analytics data goes directly to the EU servers. Account emails go through Resend and payments through Stripe.
