Strengths

The Real-Time section splits current visitors by device, charts visitors per minute for the last hour and refreshes every few seconds, with live pages, sources and countries below.
Goals can be created from a URL, with the no-code Goal Builder or with custom JavaScript, and the goal report shows total events, unique events and event value.
On paid plans, the Errors section lists 4xx and 5xx responses with the URL, status code, country, device and time, and the Metrics section charts LCP, INP, CLS and other page speed metrics.
The dashboard reports bounce rate, visit duration, pages per visit, UTM campaigns, screen resolutions and browser languages, and the Sessions table shows the country and city of each session.
The GDPR Compliance article states that client data is kept on servers in the EU, and the privacy policy names OVH Cloud in France, with backups at Backblaze in the EU.

Watch-outs

Heatmaps, page speed measurement and 404 or 500 error detection are not part of the free plan, and API access is marked Coming Soon on every plan.
Analytics data is deleted automatically after 12 months, according to the GDPR Compliance article, and the documented export is a CSV or PDF download of the dashboard for a chosen period.
The FAQ says no cookies of any kind are used, while the privacy policy and the terms, both last updated in June 2023, still describe cookies and a cookie-based advanced mode.
The WordPress plugin is downloaded from the vendor’s site rather than the WordPress plugin directory, so it has no listing there with a version history or a support forum.
The documentation describes goals but no funnel report, and the WooCommerce integration is still labeled beta.

Who it suits

Overtracking is a hosted analytics service run by FUELED BY SMART WORK SL in Madrid. Plans are sized by monthly pageviews, and the paid plans differ only in that allowance. Every plan, including the free one, covers unlimited websites and unlimited goals, so adding another site does not change the plan. The vendor names SEO specialists, bloggers, online shops and digital media as its audience.

Paid plans add reports beyond traffic: heatmaps, page speed metrics by country, device and URL, and a list of the 4xx and 5xx errors visitors run into. For online shops, the vendor publishes guides for WooCommerce and PrestaShop that report orders, checkouts and cart actions as goals, with the order value taken from each order.

Setup

After you register, click New Website, enter the domain and switch on the data you want to collect; the vendor recommends enabling every option. The tracking code for the selected site is under Settings > General and goes right before the closing head tag on every page.

Goals are added from the Goals page with the Manage Goals button, and custom goals with a key are set up under Settings > Goals. Heatmaps are switched on in the site’s general settings, after which a Heatmaps item appears in the menu.

On WordPress, the vendor’s plugin stores the tracking code and can leave out selected user roles. The service runs only in the vendor’s cloud.

Questions and answers

Does Overtracking use cookies?

No, according to the FAQ, and the tracking script on the vendor’s own site contains no code that sets cookies or uses browser storage. The privacy policy and terms from June 2023 still mention cookies. The vendor says no banner is needed; whether that holds for your site depends on the rules that apply to you.

Is there a free Overtracking plan?

Yes. The free plan covers up to 50,000 pageviews a month with unlimited websites and goals. Heatmaps, page speed measurement and error detection start with the paid plans, which are sized by monthly pageviews, and the largest volumes are quoted on request.

Where is Overtracking data stored?

In the EU, according to the vendor. The GDPR Compliance article says client data is kept on servers in the EU, and the privacy policy names OVH Cloud servers in France, with backups at Backblaze in the EU. Analytics data is deleted after 12 months.

Can Overtracking be installed on my own server?

No. The terms describe Overtracking as a cloud service under the software-as-a-service model, used over the internet without installing software on your own servers, and the pricing section offers no on-premise option.
