Cloud product analytics, with an optional cookieless mode.

Price and script size are shown as the difference from Mixpanel. Prices are compared only between tools that bill in the same unit; where the unit differs, the column shows the unit instead of a difference.

“At 100k / month” is the monthly price for 100,000 units, as the vendor bills them. Dates under statuses, prices and script sizes show when we checked them. See how we check every value.
This directory holds only 5 product analytics tools, so the list above is short. The 6 below measure something else, mostly pages, visits and traffic sources, but they end up on the same shortlist often enough to be worth the comparison. Their values are checked the same way.

Mixpanel is sold in one form, a hosted service, so leaving is a date rather than a server to switch off. The unit on the bill changes first: a plan counts events across every project in an organization, and a page view becomes an event only after track_pageview or autocapture is switched on. Tools sold by pageviews, sessions or monthly users count something else, so most rows in the first table show a unit instead of a difference.
What a report is made of changes as well. Mixpanel works on events attached to user profiles, so funnels, retention curves and cohorts follow one person across visits and devices once your code calls identify. The four tools in the first table work the same way; the six in the second report traffic: pages, sources and devices.
The second table is here because only a handful of product analytics tools are listed in this directory. A web analytics tool reports how many people arrived, where from and which pages they read, for all traffic rather than for tagged events. Following a signed-in person across devices is the exception there, and several keep no profiles at all.
The swap makes sense when the charts you open each week are traffic charts and the volume on the invoice comes from instrumentation nobody reads. It makes none when cohort retention or per-user paths are part of the week.
Two tools here read a Mixpanel project directly. Amplitude lists Mixpanel as a source in the Migrations panel under Data, on every plan tier and in its EU data center, and says migrated events count toward your monthly event volume. PostHog’s managed migration pulls events with a Mixpanel project secret, takes at most a year per job, removes no duplicates and needs a paid plan, though the import itself is not billed.
Heap and Pendo document the other direction: Heap Connect syncs labelled data to a warehouse, and Pendo Data Sync is a one-way export. Nothing in the second table reads a Mixpanel file: Matomo’s importer is written for Google Analytics, DataFast reads a Plausible export, and data import in Google Analytics 4 joins campaign, item and user data to what it collects next.
Yes, as files. The export API hands over events as they were stored, and profiles come through a separate call. Two tools here read the project directly; the rest start counting on install day.
No. Mixpanel counts events and recognises people by an identifier in the browser, while several tools in the second table recognise nobody between visits. Bot filtering differs by vendor too, so expect a step in the charts. The cookieless page covers the methods.
Collection continues and reports stop above the monthly allowance. For a project created before 1 September 2025 the move to Free also cuts retention from five years to two, so export first.
