Price by volume

How pricing works

Mixpanel counts events. The tally covers every project in an organization and runs on ingestion time, so a backfill counts in the month you send it. Some older accounts are billed by event timestamp. A few calls never count: identify, alias, merge, opt-in, session recording checkpoints and the creation or update of user profiles.

  • Free carries unlimited seats, up to a million events a month, session replays, a share of experiments and feature flags, and funnel and retention reports. Saved reports are capped per user, cohorts can be built but not saved, and lookup tables, custom properties and permissions are missing. It is not a trial, so nothing expires.
  • Growth is bought online and includes the first million events of each month, then the volume you select up to the largest step above. It adds unlimited saved reports, cohorts and metrics, custom and borrowed properties, alerts, and larger experiment and feature flag allowances.
  • Enterprise is quoted by the sales team. It lifts the event ceiling far beyond the self-serve steps and adds data governance, single sign-on, unlimited alerts, custom retention and dedicated support.

Collection does not pause above the allowance. On Free, reports are blocked once the monthly event limit is reached, and access returns when you upgrade or when the allowance resets next month, with no overage charged. On Growth, extra events are billed at the start of the next month at the additional data rate shown in your billing screen, and a larger committed volume lowers that rate. Alert emails go out as paid usage passes 85 and 100 per cent of plan volume.

Cards are charged monthly or yearly. Annual billing is cheaper, but needs a committed volume above the million events Growth already includes. A downgrade to Free takes effect from the next billing date. Group analytics, data pipelines and metric trees are add-ons on the paid plans. Companies founded within the past five years that meet the funding conditions on the page can apply for a first year at no cost.

Questions and answers

Can I cap what I spend?

No. The vendor says a billing limit cannot be set, and suggests a report with alerts that warns you before the plan volume runs out. The lever that exists is buying the volume you expect in advance, since the rate per event falls as committed volume rises.

Do the add-ons change the cost of going over?

Yes. Group analytics and data pipelines are charged as a share of the events ingested, so events above the plan raise the add-on charge in the same month. The Mixpanel card lists what each plan measures.
