What happened

Wide Angle Analytics was a hosted web analytics service from Input Objects GmbH in Germany, launched in November 2021. On 14 May 2026 the vendor announced that the product would close and keep operating until the end of August 2026, citing rising costs and competition from AI for people’s attention.

By 17 September 2026 the Wide Angle website redirected to the Input Objects site, and the tracking server no longer accepted connections. The announcement did not recommend an alternative.

What it offered

Tracking without cookies, from a service made and hosted in the EU, according to the vendor’s archived pages.
Plans counted pageviews and custom events together, and each plan covered several sites.
A public API and an official WordPress plugin.
A live visitor count.
Data retention that ranged from 12 months on the entry plan to no limit on the top plan.

What to check now

The service stopped at the end of August 2026, and its tracking server no longer accepts connections, so a snippet left on your pages loads nothing.
There was no self-service export. The vendor promised customers a snapshot of their data in an open format instead.
According to the announcement, payments covering time after the closure were to be refunded pro rata.
The WordPress plugin is still listed on wordpress.org, but it was last updated on 30 January 2025.

Your account and data

There is nothing left to set up. On 17 September 2026 the app address pointed to a shared hosting server with an unrelated certificate and did not open. Remove the Wide Angle script from your pages and, on WordPress, deactivate and delete the plugin.

For historical data, the closure announcement refers to a snapshot in an open format rather than an export button. Input Objects GmbH, which ran the service, is the party to contact if you have not received it.

Moving to another tool

Because Wide Angle had no self-service export, a move to another tool depends on the data snapshot from the vendor. The cookieless list shows tools that, like Wide Angle, count visitors without cookies by default, and the directory table marks tools that keep data in the EU.
