Strengths

  • Known bots are filtered out with updated bot lists, and an estimate of the share of visitors using ad blockers has been available since June 2025, which the vendor calls approximate.
  • By default the script records pageviews, sessions, scroll depth and view duration, UTM source, medium and campaign, and country, region and city, according to the FAQ.
  • The Live Dashboard shows data within minutes, can be rewound to any point on its graph and breaks traffic down by dimensions such as bot name or device model.
  • Each account supports up to 25 custom dimensions and a call that records login status, a user reference and the subscription plan, for conversion rates by plan.
  • Reports export to CSV from any data view, and the paid API returns event and traffic metrics by the hour, day or five-minute interval.

Watch-outs

  • The tracking script sets a first-party cookie that keeps UTM campaign values for more than a year, and the plugin page advises a cookie consent mechanism where your jurisdiction requires one.
  • The price table and the pricing FAQ disagree on whether the API starts at Essential or Advanced, while the changelog describes it as open to all users outside the Basic plan.
  • When projected usage exceeds the plan, the service cuts the number of hits it ingests; the pricing FAQ calls this sampling, while the main FAQ says it is not random sampling.

Who it suits

SentinelPro is a hosted analytics service that Valnet turned from an internal tool into a commercial product, according to the homepage. It is operated by ValServ Inc. in Saint-Laurent, Quebec. Plans are counted in hits rather than pageviews: a hit can be a pageview, an engagement measurement, an event or a monitoring ping, and the vendor puts the average at two hits per pageview.

The free Basic plan takes up to 10 million hits a month on unlimited properties, but keeps data for 30 days and has no API or custom events. Paid plans start at the same volume, go up to 100 million hits and keep data for up to two years.

Setup

The tracking code is under Account Settings > Account Details; add it to every page you want to track, then confirm the tracker request in the browser’s network panel or watch the Live Dashboard. Each property gets its own code, and a property can be marked inactive but not deleted.

Custom events are defined under Account Settings > Custom Events and fired from the page with a JavaScript call. On WordPress, the official plugin asks for the account name, property ID and an API key, needs PHP 7.4 or newer, stays off until tracking is enabled in its settings and leaves out logged-in users by default.
