Cloud web analytics, with an optional cookieless mode.

Piwik PRO is an analytics suite owned by the Danish company Cookie Information; the Business plan is hosted in Sweden, and Enterprise adds other data centers, including the US. Its tracker sets cookies by default, can be set to skip them for visitors who decline consent, and prices by actions, which include page views, downloads and events.

Piwik PRO combines web and app analytics with a tag manager, consent management and data activation in one account. The company became part of the Danish Cookie Information group in October 2023, and the Business plan now includes the Cookie Information consent platform.
The Business plan is priced by monthly actions and by the number of root domains. It covers up to 2 million actions and 20 domains, runs in Sweden and starts with a 30-day trial without a credit card. Enterprise comes in three tiers, is billed annually and adds a choice of data center in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the US or Hong Kong, with private cloud on the highest tier.
The vendor’s privacy page speaks to healthcare, finance and government organizations.
Add a site under Menu > Administration > Sites & apps, set its time zone and currency, then open Installation and copy the container code. It goes right after the opening body tag on every page. Reports fill in within about two hours, while the tracker debugger shows hits at once. Piwik PRO then starts showing its consent form, so add your privacy policy address or turn the form off.
Guides cover Google Tag Manager, Wix, Squarespace, Next.js, React, Angular and SDKs for Android, iOS, Flutter and React Native. The WordPress plugin takes the container address and site ID under Settings > Piwik PRO and needs a theme that calls wp_body_open(). On-premises installation is an Enterprise option.
Piwik PRO does not import historical data from Google Analytics. Its help center suggests combining GA4 and Piwik PRO data in a BI tool such as Looker Studio or Power BI, and it says data from Matomo is not migrated either. The tool that copied Universal Analytics and Google Tag Manager settings was withdrawn after 23 April 2025.
What the developer documentation does cover is importing web server logs. The piwikpro-log-analytics Python package, released under GPLv3, reads access logs from nginx, Apache, IIS and other servers and sends them to a site through the API.
As documented on the vendor’s own pages. “Partly” means the feature has limits or is only on some plans.
What the vendor documents. A platform that is not listed has no guide, plugin or package from the vendor.
Yes, by default. The tracker sets a visitor cookie that lasts 13 months and a 30-minute session cookie. For visitors who decline consent, you can collect anonymous data without visitor cookies, with a session hash or with cookies that expire after 30 minutes. Whether that removes the need for consent depends on the rules that apply to you.
No. The pricing page lists only Business and Enterprise, and the old Core plan page now redirects to the Business plan. Business has a 30-day trial without a credit card; if you do not upgrade, the account is deactivated and deleted with its data after seven more days.
You pay an overage fee, calculated and invoiced at the end of each billing cycle. If overages are frequent or large, the subscription may be moved to a higher plan automatically, and continuing to use the service counts as accepting those charges.
On Business, in Sweden with the provider Elastx. Enterprise customers choose Azure data centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Hong Kong or the US, or Elastx in Sweden, and the highest tier adds private cloud. The Cookie Information consent platform is hosted on Azure in the Netherlands.
How each value is collected: methodology. Why tools get no overall score: our reasoning.
