Swetrix is a web analytics service from Swetrix Ltd in Edinburgh, and its cloud keeps analytics data on Hetzner servers in Germany. Next to traffic reports, every plan includes funnels, goals, error tracking, performance monitoring and an SEO tab that draws on Google Search Console.
Plans are sized by monthly events across the whole account. Standard covers 10 websites and 10 team members. Plus raises that to 100 websites and 25 members and adds session replays, feature flags and A/B testing. Extra websites are sold in bundles of 50, a detail for anyone who looks after many small sites.
There is no free cloud plan. The code is open source under AGPL-3.0, and the free Community Edition runs on your own server; see open-source tools you can self-host.
Create a project, then paste the script tag and a short call that starts tracking with your Project ID inside the body of every page. The Project ID is shown in the dashboard. There is also an npm package, and the documentation has guides for more than 50 platforms, including Next.js, Shopify and Webflow.
The free Community Edition runs with Docker Compose on an x86_64 or arm64 server, and the vendor recommends at least 2 GB of RAM. It starts the frontend, the API, an nginx proxy, Redis and ClickHouse. Updates often include database migrations you apply by hand, and email reports are available only in the cloud.
Swetrix imports historical data under Settings > Import data. Google Analytics 4 is connected through your Google account with read-only access, and pageviews and custom events arrive with hourly precision, without language, browser and OS versions or session duration. Umami and Plausible Analytics exports are uploaded as ZIP files, Simple Analytics and Fathom Analytics exports as CSV files. Plausible exports only daily totals, so Swetrix rebuilds approximate event rows from them. Uploads are limited to 100 MB, one import runs at a time per project, and an import can be deleted later without touching tracked data.
As documented on the vendor’s own pages. “Partly” means the feature has limits or is only on some plans.
What the vendor documents. A platform that is not listed has no guide, plugin or package from the vendor.
No. According to the documentation, the script sets no cookies, writes nothing to local storage and reads no client-side identifier. Visitors are recognized with a salted hash whose salt changes daily for sessions and monthly for returning visitors. The vendor says a cookie banner is not needed; whether that holds for your site depends on the rules that apply to you.
No, not in the cloud. Swetrix offers a 14-day trial that requires a payment method, and you are not charged until it ends. The Community Edition is free if you run it on your own server.
Collection continues. Swetrix does not move you to a larger plan automatically, and the billing documentation says an occasional spike brings no extra charge. The dashboard may be locked after seven days’ notice if you exceed your plan two months in a row or by more than 30%. A locked project accepts no new events until you upgrade, but existing data is kept.
In Germany. The data policy says all analytics data is stored on Hetzner servers in the EU, and the data processing agreement lists Hetzner for hosting and Sentry in the United States for error tracking and monitoring. Swetrix Ltd is registered in the United Kingdom.
How each value is collected: methodology. Why tools get no overall score: our reasoning.
