Strengths

Sets no cookies: on websites, the vendor describes a hashed identifier that is recognized only on the same site on the same day, and the privacy FAQ says IP addresses are never stored.
In apps, user identifiers are salted and hashed on the device and hashed again with a server-side salt, so neither you nor TelemetryDeck can recover the original value, according to the vendor.
A single traffic spike does not raise the price: paid plans move up only after two months in a row above their included events, with email alerts at 80% and 100% of usage.
Test mode marks events from localhost and private IP ranges automatically, so development traffic stays out of live reports.
Custom dashboards can be exported and imported as JSON with field mapping, insights can be downloaded as JSON, and notebooks can be published as frozen public snapshots.

Watch-outs

The web script sends page views automatically, and the location it records stops at country and continent.
Real-time data and personal access tokens for the API are limited to paid plans, and free plan charts update on a batch schedule.
On the free plan, events above the monthly allowance are not ingested until the counter resets, and the FAQ warns that events discarded this way cannot be recovered.
Paid plans stop collecting for the rest of the month if an organization sends more than 20 times its included events, and events sent in that state are discarded.
The documentation builds funnels and referrer charts as queries in the dashboard, with the filter editor, templates or the TelemetryDeck Query Language.
Data is kept for three months on the free plan and for 24 months on Indie and the plans above it.

Who it suits

TelemetryDeck is analytics for app developers, with SDKs for Swift on Apple platforms, Kotlin on Android, Flutter, React Native and JavaScript apps, plus a script tag for websites and blogs. You send named events from your code, and the dashboard turns them into insights, funnels and retention charts.

Plans are sized by the monthly events of all apps in an organization. The free plan starts without a card, and paid self-service plans add real-time data and personal access tokens for the API. The July 2026 pricing post presents the smaller plans as an answer to feedback from indie developers.

Setup

Create an account with an organization name, choose Create New App from the menu next to the logo, and copy the App ID from Set Up App in the sidebar. For a website, add the TelemetryDeck script tag with that ID in its data-app-id attribute to the head of every page, or load it through a Custom HTML tag in Google Tag Manager. Page views are then sent without further code.

In App Settings, the Overview Layout can show data for a blog or static website. Apps use the SDK for their platform; the JavaScript package needs the SubtleCrypto API, which Node.js and React Native must supply. TelemetryDeck is offered only as a hosted service.

Questions and answers

Does TelemetryDeck use cookies?

No. The web script works with a hashed identifier that is valid for one site and one day, and the app SDKs keep an anonymized user identifier on the device instead of a cookie. The vendor says no consent banner is needed; whether that holds for your site or app depends on the rules that apply to you.

Is there a free TelemetryDeck plan?

Yes. New accounts get 50,000 events a month for free, without a card, while accounts created before 1 July 2026 keep 100,000. When the free allowance is used up, new events are not ingested until the monthly counter resets, and paid plans add real-time data.

Where is TelemetryDeck data hosted?

In Germany. The July 2026 pricing post says the service is hosted exclusively with German providers, and the hosting article says all hosting is within the EU. TelemetryDeck offers no self-hosted or on-premises version.

What counts as an event?

Each SDK call that sends a signal, such as a screen view, a button tap, a purchase or an error, counts as one event, according to the plans page. Events from all apps in an organization are added together toward the monthly allowance.
