How pricing works

Matomo is sold in two forms: as a hosted service, which the table above covers, and as software you install yourself.

Matomo Cloud is sized by hits. A hit is one interaction sent to Matomo for reporting, among them pageviews, events, downloads, outlinks, site searches, content tracking and crashes. Tracking requests from AI assistants count as hits too, while heartbeat pings, which only correct the recorded visit duration, do not. Every published step is the same plan, Business, with a larger hit allowance, so the rest of the allowances stay the same as you climb: 30 websites, 30 team members, 100 segments, 150 goals, 30 custom dimensions, 100 custom reports, 100 forms and 30 tag manager containers. Raw data is kept for 24 months and report data has no end date. Heatmaps and session recordings carry their own monthly quotas. Above the published steps sits Cloud Enterprise, quoted on request, with custom allowances and a customer success manager.

Hits beyond the allowance are billed monthly in blocks of five thousand. Warnings come first: an alert when the quota is nearly used and another when the system projects an overage from recent usage, over seven days on monthly plans and fourteen on yearly ones, with reminders after that. Superusers pick the projection window, and each user chooses which alert emails to receive. The cloud trial runs 21 days with every feature and no card, and an instance that is not turned into a plan is deleted a few days later. Annual billing costs two months less than monthly, and plan changes are prorated.

The self-hosted side is priced on its own. Community is free forever, with unlimited users and hits, community plugins and forum support. Premium features arrive as bundles named Team, Business, Enterprise and VIP, each capped by users and monthly hits, or as single plugins from the Marketplace. Updates released during a subscription are included, a bundle can be raised at any point and lowered at renewal, and a cancelled subscription runs to the end of the billing period.

Questions and answers

Do the cloud plans include the premium features?

Yes. The vendor states that cloud plans already include access to Matomo features as part of the hosted subscription and are not affected by the on-premise bundle structure. Bundles apply to installations you run yourself. The Matomo card lists what ships in each case.

Is there a trial for the self-hosted bundles?

The pricing page says the Team bundle includes a free trial and the larger bundles do not. The marketplace documentation separately describes a 30-day trial for premium features, which converts into a subscription unless cancelled in time.
